Although this post is old, I wanted to share my experience with screen burn. I ran an eight-hour video overnight, and to my surprise it cleared the burn. Two days later there are still no signs of the original damage or any new artifacts.
Screen burn is caused by the LEDs in your shitty screen being overworked. When they're overworked on one app or website, they then default to that state because an "imprint" of that colour code or shading pattern is burned into the overheated LEDs. What those videos are doing is basically shocking the pixels and resetting them.I don't know if the youtube videos necessarily do what they're trying to do, I just don't know if they're strong enough, but there should be something built into the settings of your device (or an external application) that would allow you to initiate this process. Resetting the colour settings on a windows screen usually fixes it, for example. But screen burn happens because the materials used were cheap and shitty, so you're not gonna be able to fix it forever.It depends, but it sometimes works. For screen burnin, usually the pixels get stuck retaining a previous image, and the flashing lights force the pixels to continuously refresh and get unstuck.It definitely depends on the type of panel and how bad the burn in is though, it’s an easy fix when it does work but won’t work all the time.
